These pieces were created collaboratively with fungi. Through the magic of electronics, it's now possible to sense the electrical fields that occur within fungal structures, and to use these to control synthesizers and other electronic instruments. These recordings capture a set of improvised performances created using this approach, by responding in real time to the sounds generated and modulated by different fungal species. These pieces therefore represent a form of musical dialogue with fungi. Although we tend to think of them as mute, these performances remind us that fungi are very much alive. And they have something to say.
